Rahimi, a journalist, descends into the dark underbelly of the Iranian holy city of Mashhad as she investigates the serial killings of sex workers by the so called "Spider Killer", who believes he is cleansing the streets of sinners.

Holy Spider, which is based on real events, was selected to compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, and Zar Amir Ebrahimi, who plays one of the lead roles, won the Best Actress award.
