Malmö Queer Filmfestival bjuder in till Sverige-premiären av In Her Words: 20th Century Lesbian Fiction. Malmös egen och Sveriges enda queer-bokhandel Page 28 kommer att vara på plats med ett bokbord!

In Her Words: 20th Century Lesbian Fiction skildrar den lesbiska fiktionens historia och inverkan från 1920-talet till 1990-talet. Filmen berättas av HBTQ+-historikern Lillian Faderman och belyser inverkan som viktiga världshändelser hade på HBTQ-historien under årtiondena. Genom intervjuer med flera banbrytande lesbiska författare, däribland Queen of Lesbian Pulp Ann Bannon, Dorothy Allison, Rita Mae Brown, Sarah Waters och Jewelle Gomez, får vi veta hur dessa världshändelser hjälpte till att forma deras berättelser och i vilken utsträckning berättelserna var en återspegling av författarnas egna liv när de sökte bekräftelse och sin plats i världen.

In Her Words: 20th Century Lesbian Fiction documents the history and impact of lesbian fiction from the 1920s through the 1990s. Narrated by LGBTQ+ historian Lillian Faderman, the film recounts the impact key world events had on LGBTQ history throughout the decades. With interviews from numerous trailblazing lesbian authors, including the Queen of Lesbian Pulp Ann Bannon, Dorothy Allison, Rita Mae Brown, Sarah Waters and Jewelle Gomez, we learn how these world events helped shape their stories and to what extent the stories were reflections of the authors' own lives as they looked for affirmation and their place in the world.

This film will inspire lit lovers of any age to return to old favorites, while igniting curiosity for a new literary tryst or two.
