The Swedish Human Rights Film Festival (Raoul Wallenberginstitutet i samarbete med biografen Kino i Lund) presenterar filmen Welcome to Chechnya med efterföljande panelsamtal.

I Tjetjenien finns inga homosexuella. Det har den tyranniske ledaren Ramzan Kadyrov bestämt. Och om de finns så ska de bort. Men självklart finns de. Welcome to Chechnya följer en aktivistgrupp som riskerar livet för att rädda HBTQI+ personer drabbade av förföljelse från de tjetjenska auktoriteterna – såväl som av sina egna familjer. Målet är att få ett slut på förföljelsen, men också att överleva. Filmen vann flera priser vid Berlins filmfestival och Sundance Film Festival.

PANELSAMTAL
Efter filmen hålls ett panelsamtal med Stefan Ingvarsson som tidigare var Sveriges kulturråd i Moskva och en av de svenska diplomater som följde utvecklingen i Tjetjenien på plats i Ryssland och Inna Bukshtynovich från Civil Rights Defenders. Moderator är Zuzana Zalanova från Raoul Wallenberginstitutet. Samtalet hålls på engelska.

The Swedish Human Rights Film Festival (The Raoul Wallenberg Institute in collaboration with Kino cinema in Lund) presents the film Welcome to Chechnya with a following panel discussion. 

In Chechnya, LGBTQI+ activists operating in a secret network risk their lives in the fight against extreme repression. Intolerance and a government-directed campaign against LGBTQI+ people has made imprisonment, torture, and killings part of daily life. Through mutual respect and unhindered access, director David France has created an impactful film that tells the gripping and deeply agonizing story that everyone should know. The film has won several prestigious prices at different film festivals including Berlin International Film Festival and Sundance Film Festival.

The film will be screened with English subtitles. 

PANEL DISCUSSION
Following the screening, we will be hosting a panel discussion with Stefan Ingvarsson, cultural attaché in 2015 at the Swedish Embassy in Moscow and one of the Swedish diplomats who followed the development in Chechnya first hand and Inna Bukshtynovich from Civil Rights Defenders. The talk will be moderated by Zuzana Zalanova (The Raoul Wallenberg Institute).
