PALESTINSKA FILMDAGAR I MALMÖ 19-20 april 2019
PALESTINIAN FILM DAYS IN MALMÖ April 19-20 2019
Welcome to Palestinian film days in Malmo
This is not the first time that Malmo city has celebrated the Palestinian cinema, hosting numerous events and festivals which lasted for a week or so additionally, the Palestinian Cultural Association hopes to initiate a festival which will be held annually.
Palestine is the cradle of civilization and the land of the stories, which influenced the Palestinian cinema that it became notably realistic reflecting the lives and societies of the Palestinians. It is not strange that the spark which started it all was in the thirties as the Palestinian cinema was documentarian at first, then it subsequently developed to short and long storytelling movies. The Palestinian cinema was first introduced by the visionary Ibrahim Sarhan also, Ahmed and Mohammed Al kylani along with a group of notable characters such as, Ibrahim and Badr Lama It is absurd to judge the Palestinian cinema based upon the political perspectives whether it was negative or positive As the cinema stems and portrays the society where it was born, possessing an extensive experiences also, a cinematic world on its own which has qualified the Palestinian cinema to echo around the oscar and many Arab also international festivals. The Palestinian cinema should be judged and rated based upon critical cinematic standards and tools, similar to the ones which are being used with the international cinemas, keeping in mind the challenges also great responsibilities that come along with the Palestinian cause and which the cinema faces.
We would like to welcome you to Palestinian film days offering a program with a variety of long & short storytelling films, documentaries, seminars and artistic activities Special thanks to all the Swedish and Arab organizations also everyone who helped and contributed to make this festival a great success.
