Black Feminist is a feature length documentary film surrounding the double-edged sword of racial and gender oppression that black women face in USA. This documentary is told through interviews from scholars, lecturers, writers, business owners, veterans, comedians and authors. In addition to information interviews, this documentary is narrated by our storybook character LaToya Johnson, played by Nadirah Lugg.
PANEL DISCUSSION
After the film, there will be a panel discussion on the concepts of Black feminism, womanism, intersectionality, white privilege etc., and the relevance for black women, women of color, and POC LGBT community in Sweden. The discussion will be held in English.
The panel:
RAHEL WELDEAB SEBHATU is Vice President of Pan-African Movement for Justice (Afrosvenskarnas Forum för Rättivsa) and a PhD candidate in Global Politics at the Department of Global Political Studies at Malmö University.
She is also a board member of the European Network Against Racism (ENAR), and the Research Director for Afresist. Rahel will be leading the conversation.
AMALIA BARTHOLDSON is a queer activist engaged in the LGBTQIA+ community and the anti-racist and feminist movement. Amalia is currently vice chairperson on the board of Malmö Pride who last year organized WorldPride in Malmö. She is active in the organization TAR, transnational adoptees national organization, and has been politically employed. Inclusion and equal rights for all is the core of her engagement.
HODAN OMAR is a teacher that has worked with norm criticism in various departments within Malmö municipality, and an activist within the civil society who knows and understands that her feminism differs from many others.
